Resolved - Between 16:40 and 17:20 IST, ImageKit experienced delays in the propagation of updates within the Media Library.

During this period, file operations continued to complete successfully. However, customers may have experienced delays before the latest changes became visible in file listings, file metadata, tags, and search results.

The behavior was consistent across both the ImageKit Dashboard and APIs.

Customer Impact

Customers may have observed the following:

1. Newly created, updated, or modified files taking longer than expected to appear in updated Media Library listings.
2. Changes to file metadata or tags not being reflected immediately.
3. Search results temporarily returning stale information or not reflecting recently updated files, metadata, or tags.
4. Similar delayed visibility of updates when accessing the Media Library through either the Dashboard or APIs.

The underlying file operations themselves were successful. The issue affected the timely visibility and searchability of those updates rather than the execution of the operations.

Root Cause

The incident was caused by a delay in ImageKit's search and indexing systems. During the affected period, the indexing systems began trailing behind the primary file databases. As a result, updates successfully committed to the primary databases were not propagated to the systems responsible for file listings and search at the expected rate. This backlog caused customers to temporarily see stale file listings, metadata, tags, and search results while the indexing systems caught up with the primary databases.

Resolution
The search and indexing systems subsequently caught up with the primary file databases, restoring normal propagation of Media Library updates.

Once the backlog was processed, file listings, metadata, tags, and search results reflected the latest successfully completed operations as expected.
